Independent Venue Week (29th Jan – 4th Feb 2024) is the UK’s annual 7-day celebration of independent music & arts venues and the people that own, run and work in them.

Empyre will play The Black Prince, Northampton on Thursday 1st February. Guitarist Did Coles explains the importance of supporting local independent venues. "We're thrilled to be part of Independent Venue Week for numerous reasons. Firstly, The Black Prince is an independent venue in our hometown of Northampton. Secondly, on February 1st they host us as a headliner, but we've been playing there for years, and for a long time performed to small crowds when we were starting out, both there and at venues like it across the country. It's great that we can now support them with sell out gigs and bring fans from all over the UK to join us. Some even from abroad. Which is nuts!

Without independent venues like The Black Prince and others like it throughout the UK who are at the heart of the grassroots scene we wouldn't have had the opportunity to grow our Empyre. They are great venues for live music in all its variety, the beer selection is large and affordable (at The Black Prince at least), they don't take a percentage of any band's merch, plus it's a great social night as much as a music night. It's a win-win for all involved."

They will also be appearing at Planet Rock’s sold out Winters End Festival on the 9th February

Godsticks Darran Charles states From the perspective of both a musician and gig-goer, the importance of supporting independent music venues cannot be understated enough. Had it not been for these venues, its highly likely than many of the bands we love would never have achieved the success they have, and bands like my own (Godsticks) would struggle to ever play live again. These venues are fundamental to future of music.”
