BRUCE SOORD ANNOUNCES DOLBY ATMOS PLAYBACK OF NEW ALBUM GHOSTS IN THE PARK
Ahead of the release of his new album Ghosts In The Park on 15th May, Bruce Soord has announced a very special listening evening which will see the new album played back in Dolby Atmos at London's Soho Hotel. As founding member and principal songwriter of The Pineapple Thief, Bruce Soord has spent the last decade steadily refining a voice that balances emotional directness with musical restraint. Set for release on 15th May, Ghosts In The Park, his latest solo album, is his most personal and unguarded work to date: a record shaped by loss, memory, and the quiet spaces that reveal themselves when life continues to move while everything else appears to stop.
Written over a two-year period while Soord was touring extensively with The Pineapple Thief, the album emerged in hotel rooms, unfamiliar cities, and moments of enforced solitude. Against this backdrop, Soord was navigating the drawn-out decline and eventual death of his father, alongside the continued progression of his mother’s Alzheimer’s. These experiences form the emotional spine of Ghosts In The Park - grief in motion, memory surfacing unpredictably, and the quiet determination to keep moving forward.

In contrast to the expansive, cinematic soundscapes of his band, Bruce Soord revealed a more introspective and organic side to his songwriting. Since its original release in 2015, Soord’s career has continued to evolve. As The Pineapple Thief’s principal songwriter and producer, he has guided the band through a series of acclaimed albums, including Your Wilderness (2016), Dissolution (2018), Versions of the Truth (2020), and 2024’s chart-topping It Leads to This, each refining and expanding the band’s distinctive fusion of progressive and alternative rock. Beyond his work with The Pineapple Thief, Soord has established himself as a sought-after producer and mix engineer, lending his expertise to artists such as TesseracT, Opeth, and Jethro Tull, while also continuing his solo work with All This Will Be Yours (2019) and Luminescence (2023).
2015 feels like yesterday, although a very different yesterday. My twin boys were 7 years old. My daughter, who is now 6, yet to be. I had just taken the jump to become a professional musician. And like many 'professionals' in the music industry, I was broke. Listening to this record takes me right back, the 'familiar patterns' of everyday life, 'the odds' of making any kind of real success out of my music, while languishing in my studio in my home town of Yeovil. Buried here. But there is one song on this record that probably says everything I ever wanted to say. 'Field Day Part 2' will forever have a special place in my heart. – Bruce Soord

BRUCE SOORD'S NEW SOLO ALBUM ‘LUMINESCENCE’ IS OUT NOW
Multi-instrumentalist, producer and The Pineapple Thief mastermind Bruce Soord released his new album Luminescence in September. The album is his third solo offering and is supported by a very rare European solo tour in Europe and UK in September.
Inspired by the idea of finding inner peace, Soord’s latest solo release explores the difficulty of living in the metropolis of the modern world. Born from days exploring various cities whilst on tour, tracks from the album feature recordings from Soord’s various wanderings captured on his field recorder.
With acoustic guitar at the centre of the album, tracks such as ‘Lie Flat’ appear simple on the surface yet reveal Soord’s unmistakable intricacies throughout. There’s a variety of styles within though. The album’s single ‘Dear Life’ effortlessly encapsulates Soord’s unique sense of poised melancholy, while ‘Nestle In’ flirts with electronica. ‘Olomouc’s rousing strings work against the acoustic backdrop of Soord’s guitar to paint a vivid picture of the stillness that the record describes.
All This Will Be Yours
Bruce Soord, the multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and frontman for internationally renowned experimental rock outfit The Pineapple Thief, has confirmed the release of his second solo album.
Taking elements from the recent musical developments with The Pineapple Thief, as well as an ambition to experiment with his own sound, All This Will Be Yours is an album of acoustic and personal vision from Bruce Soord. Described by Soord as an observational record, it is inspired by the joy felt by the birth of his third child juxtaposed by the local deprivation in his hometown.
Bruce explains “Emotionally it was a pretty unique & eventful time, my wife was due to have our 3rd child at any time but she managed to come to see the final date of the TPT tour at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, after the show that night we returned home to Yeovil and the next day our baby girl arrived. So, we had this new life in our lives and it introduced a very different perspective on the world around me. I was totally inspired and started writing almost immediately.”
