TIM BOWNESS’ NEW SINGLE ‘LOST/NOT LOST’ OUT TODAY
The new single from British singer, songwriter, producer and prog pioneer Tim Bowness is out today. The track, titled ‘Lost/Not Lost’, is one of the standout tracks from Tim’s new album Powder Dry, set for release on 13th September. Speaking about the single, he said “Both musically and lyrically, Lost / Not Lost is the most direct song on Powder Dry. It’s a straight-ahead Electro-Pop piece with an optimistic lyric embracing escape and a spirit of abandon. It provides a sharp contrast to some of the bleak sentiments and troubled tales found elsewhere on the album. Like the rest of the music, it came together in a very natural and instinctive way. Clearly, I was in a rare good mood that day!”
“his voice is a tender marvel…a career peak”
8/10 – CLASSIC ROCK
“a raw-edged revelation, a declaration of new and neoteric directions. Dynamite”
4.5/5 – PROG MAGAZINE
“an exceptionally unified and hugely accessible body of work…a new beginning for the talented multi-instrumentalist.”

Tim Bowness has shared his stunning new single ‘Idiots At Large’ today. The third single to be released from his forthcoming album Powder Dry (out 13th September on Kscope), ‘Idiots At Large’ presents an intriguing combination of delicate atmospherics and dynamic explosions to tell the story of someone drifting away from their previously safe home life and mainstream views.
Mixed by Bowness’s partner in no-man, Steven Wilson, the new single is accompanied by a vibrant, atmospheric visualiser created by Matt Vickerstaff.
“This is the best and most creative of all of Tim's albums.” - Steven Wilson
Tim Bowness says, 'The song is partly about eco-apocalypse and partly about someone becoming detached from their family and friends as a result of their increasingly strong beliefs (beliefs reinforced by digging deeper down the internet rabbit hole). This isn’t a commentary on the rights or wrongs of anything, it's an observation about how idealism can alter the course of a life. Idiots At Large is definitely a combination of musical extremes - prettiness and viciousness existing side by side - with the atmospheric verses having something of the Ambient / Minimalist Classical about them and the choruses being as close I come to Industrial / Metal.’

The sublime second single from Tim Bowness’s forthcoming Kscope label release Powder Dry is out today. The track, titled ‘When Summer Comes’, is a shimmering fusion of treated pianos, Mellotron flutes and bittersweet vocals. A quietly haunting soundtrack for a film that never was, the piece presents a potent mix of classic croon and blissed-out atmospherics.
Bowness says, “There’s a yearning, nostalgic quality to the song, I think. It’s about someone trying to convince themself that meaningful change will come, while instinctively knowing they’ll end up making the same mistakes again. It’s a cinematic ballad with hints of personal favourites such as late '60s Scott Walker and Beehive-era David Sylvian. Inevitably, there’s some no-man (and a lot of me) in the mix as well.”
Mixed by Bowness’s partner in no-man, Steven Wilson, the evocative, abstract video for the song was created by Matt Vickerstaff.

Powder Dry artwork
Tim Bowness has today shared details of his new album Powder Dry. Set for release on 16th August, the album will be Bowness’s first release on Kscope. The first single from Powder Dry is the propulsive Rock Hudson, a paranoid ode to online discourse. Produced and performed by Tim Bowness and mixed by his partner in no-man Steven Wilson, the song is accompanied a vibrant abstract video by Matt Vickerstaff, which echoes Carl Glover's artwork for the album.
Bowness says of the song, ‘Like all of the album Powder Dry, the song resulted from an attempt to capture a fleeting feeling as accurately as I could. This time the mood was dark, and there's something of the spiky Post-Punk and Electro-Pop music of the early 1980s that captivated me as a teenager in the mix. Joy Division, The Cure, The The etc…’
Entirely produced, performed and written by Bowness (a first), Powder Dry was mixed (in stereo and Surround Sound) by Bowness’s partner in no-man (and The Album Years podcast), Steven Wilson, who also acted as Bowness’s sounding board during the mixing process.
'I’ve had the pleasure to work on most of Tim’s solo albums, and for me this is the best and most creative of them all, partly because this time it’s truly a 'solo' album, showcasing not only his unique vocals, but also his distinctive approach to production and performance. It’s totally Tim!’ - Steven Wilson

Kscope are thrilled to announce the signing of Tim Bowness. A prolific singer, songwriter and producer, Tim is known for his distinctive vocals and expressive style of songwriting and has worked alongside Steven Wilson (releasing seven studio albums with no-man) and, more recently, Nosound’s Giancarlo Erra (last week, Nosound shared their new single ‘Dogs’ featuring Tim Bowness).
Speaking about the signing and hinting at new music, Tim said, “With its eclectic roster and open-minded and adventurous approach to music and presentation, Kscope seems like a logical home for what I’ve been coming up with of late. I’m excited to see where it all leads.”
