TRANSITION II - THE NEW RELEASE FROM LUNATIC SOUL – THE ACCLAIMED SOLO PROJECT OF VISIONARY COMPOSER MARIUSZ DUDA
INCLUDES THE BELOVED EPIC ‘TRANSITION II’ + A BRAND NEW PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACK
SET FOR RELEASE ON 26th JUNE
Originally released on a limited CD edition of Through Shaded Woods in 2020, Transition II has grown into one of the most beloved and talked-about pieces in the Lunatic Soul catalogue. At nearly 28 minutes in length, the epic composition was too long to be included on the original vinyl pressing - until now.
For this special 2026 release, Mariusz Duda has carefully reshaped Transition II, into a new 23-minute suite designed to fit a single side of vinyl without losing any of the hypnotic grandeur that made it a fan favourite.
This release also presents newly remixed versions of ‘Hylophobia’ and ‘Vyraj’, both originally recorded for the Through Shaded Woods sessions, remixed from the ground up. Lunatic Soul’s founder and leader Mariusz Duda wouldn’t be himself if he didn’t add something previously unheard, so the release also includes a new piece, “Realm of The Weeping Willows,” which began taking shape during the Through Shaded Woods sessions but was completed at the beginning of 2026.
As a result, an exceptionally cohesive release has been created - one that presents Lunatic Soul from a very intriguing, instrumental perspective, reminiscent of the early albums of - for example: Mike Oldfield and Dead Can Dance.
Additionally, as Mariusz Duda says: “This is an album that arrives at the perfect moment.”
One might ask - why now? Why return to this composition and release it again only at this point?
“Because Lunatic Soul is changing - says Duda - After completing the eight albums that make up the dark cycle ‘The Circle of Life and Death,’ Lunatic Soul is transforming into a project where more musical light and hope will begin to emerge. And ‘Transition II,’ as a release, already contains these brighter elements and exists precisely between the old and the new.”
Here is Lunatic Soul in its finest folk-forest-melancholic instrumental form.
Lunatic Soul release new album Through Shaded Woods
With album number seven explores the darkness of Slavic and Scandinavian folk
Lunatic Soul is the solo studio music project of creator, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mariusz Duda.
As the lead singer of the hugely popular prog-rock band Riverside, Lunatic Soul was created in 2008 as an opportunity for Duda to explore musical territories outside the rock domain.
Through Shaded Woods is a new opening for Lunatic Soul, it's definitely the most refined and the richest sounding album.
On album number seven Duda extends his musical explorations to include dark Scandinavian and Slavic folk referencing bands like Heilung or Wardruna. Following the heavily electronic sound of previous albums Fractured and Under the Fragmented Sky, Through Shaded Woods is completely devoid of electronics and is the first album in Duda’s discography, on which he plays all instruments.
The concept has been described by Duda as the "Shaded Woods" being our worst traumas and nightmares. Going through these woods symbolises facing them. It's a test of courage. Musically, we're going on a journey inspired by dark Scandinavian and Slavic folk.”
